Picea obovata 'Chris Nova' is identified as having an "overall deep green color", shiny, short and soft needles, and an open limb and narrow conical growth habit. 'Chris Nova' is a moderate to fast grower in northeast Georgia, U.S.A. This spruce cultivar has a striking presence as a focal point or specimen tree of interest in the landscape. As a Siberian spruce, it is well suited for the upper Piedmont and Mountain regions of the southeast U.S.A., and it should thrive in proper growing conditions throughout USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 2 to 7b.
