Another market day after skipping last week because we didn't have much to sell. Seemed like things were sparse again today but there was much traffic and the flowers were flying off the table. And beans! Wax beans sold out first and by 10 am all the beans were gone.

Yesterday it was all I could do to drag myself down to the garden to cut flowers. Maybe it's the heat. Maybe it's the weeds. It feels like I don't have any flowers for bouquets because i never got most of my annuals planted. Just didn't have any open space without weeding and every time I wanted to weed the vegetable garden was pressing me more. Then the ground dried up and it was next to impossible to pull the weeds, as well as the humidity being so high you could hardly breathe.

I picked a minimum of flowers and any that are a pain, like the tiny flowers (bachelor buttons), I just didn't pick. I didn't have a lot for the main flowers since I only had a handful of daisies and zinnias. There was one dahlia open. Tons of BES which I was going to pick lots of and just do BES bouquets, but then I didn't feel like cutting them either. I got the nicest and largest ones and that's all. Only a few echinaceas that weren't past their peak. I did get over a dozen really nice glads and quite a bit of crocosima.

Thankfully the bouquets went together quickly, even with two short showers that chased me inside. We were done gathering by 4 pm and I had made 30 bouquets.

The rain today held off until just before we packed up at 1 p.m. and even with the rain there were a few last minute bouquets and honey sold. Then the thunder and lightening started and the sky opened up! We packed up and headed for Jackson's birthday party.

Very low key party for a one-year-old that ended up being a nice get together. He was hesitant to charge into his baby turtle cake and in the end just poked a finger in the frosting and tasted it. He hasn't had chocolate before and he didn't seem to like it but we were surprised he didn't try to at least 'squeeze' the cake. He is very much into feeling textures but he wasn't interested today. He was enthralled with the popcorn popper push toy.
