Seedfork's blog: @#$%&*!!!!

I won't translate that, but it means the only place, and I mean the only place the devil demon(no longer sure it is an armadillo) dug last night was INSIDE the fenced in area of newly planted daylilies. I could not find an entrance or exit hole, did it go over the top? The darn thing has no interest in eating the plants, it just digs up the plants and labels and tosses them out of the way, doesn't even dig that deep, just deep enough to get the plants up. Then the creature just leaves them there either exposed or covered with soil it threw over them while digging up another plant. Many were dug up, but then partially covered over with newly dug soil, so they did not dry out. I just wonder how many times a daylily can stand being replanted?

These pictures just show some of the damage, I now have no idea what is actually planted in the proper location and don't have any idea where to place the labels. It is just going to be narrowing it down to the list of plants I put in this plot when they bloom and matching them from there. There were 24 new varieties planted in this plot, and I think one 'Pink Peppermint" has sucumbed to being dug too often. Hopefully there will be no two that look so much alike I will have any trouble telling which plant goes with which label.
I had no damage in any other bed, except in one bed a label for 'Rose Emily' was completely missing and could not be found this morning, no hole dug just took the label.
