Distributed a pickup truck load of mulch to the weeded areas of the Storybook garden and I also spent some time late last evening doing some much needed cleanup...mostly cutting and removing the spent lambs' ear blooms and daylily/iris stalks. The area that I dug over and replanted in the very early spring look pretty good...some weeds, which is to be expected after all that digging, but everything that was divided and moved looks good. I may need to carry some water up there to the yarrow; it's looking a bit stressed after a dry week. I was very surprised (and pleased) to find that the Russian sage that I had given up on is there and growing nicely! I'm glad I didn't hurry to rip it out.
I really REALLY need to tackle the lower bed in the Storybook garden very soon...it's completely overgrown, especially down near the bottom where it meets up with the Cave garden and was subjected to the mess left by the utility company's tree removal crews. I shudder to think what I'm going to find in all that...
It's supposed to be a lot cooler today (I dont see it), and we may get showers later today. After I get some things finished up in the office, I may just go ahead and see how far I can get with that lower SB garden bed... I'm planning to take the whole arsenal up there with me: saws, axes, weed sprayer, you name it... We're talking a major mess.

Eating lots of sweet corn (Ambrosia, my favorite variety) from the garden. We could have it again tonight, but I'm not sure I want to have it every other day....I don't want to get tired of it. I'm thinking shrimp with a nice cucumber salad from the garden.

Put up 3 quarts of bread and butter pickles yesterday; I have another 2-3 quarts of cukes soaking overnight to make dill pickles today.
