chickhill's blog: Hot mugggy rainy

Posted on Aug 30, 2014 10:47 PM

semps are doing badly, too much rain then blazing sun. Most have been potted up under covers. Left Hot Shot, Ford;s spring, More Honey, not Casa in bed w/tray liners for shade. So discouraging how many I have lost this summer. "New semp bed" is now getting sedum and coneflowers. May put in small grasses and what else I don't know yet.
Having gallbladder out didn't fix all the nausea, fatigue and right side pain. .What next?
Made a heart shaped hpertuffa bowl, one scalloped round pot, one square, one rectangle, and one tall square. Just simply don't have the energy to get going on the pumpkins this year. To hot even in late evening to make pots, wringing wet sweat.
Divided the corkscrew rush into 3 parts and potted up so I can spread it around.
Digging out daylilies for my dau-in-law so I can put my seedlings in.
Hosta looks awful now, collecting a few seed pods. Most hosta under Sweet Bay magnolia have been potted up-don't seem to like being under that tree, not growing or wasting away. The one's on outside edge seem to be OK. Seedling hosta are slowly growing-hum- will move pot from under magnolia tree- to me they should be bigger. Why didn't I do that when I dug the others up!
Mexican petunia is doing great. Have made many cuttings and planted them in different places hoping they will all survive this coming winter. Keeping them pruned makes them bushier & make more plants. Will try mulching them and all my new butterfly bushes.
New sedums coming from Santa Rosa Choc. Drop, Cherry Truffle, Touchdown Jade & Flame, Dazzleberry, Lime Zinger and Vera Jamerson.
Still waiting on Spuria iris from Wildwood
