Now that it's officially September, the weather has perversely decided to be mid-August (which at the time felt like September). Hot, overcast, very very humid just about the ugliest sort of day you could hope for while sitting in the a.c. and looking out the window. I worked up a sweat at 6:30 a.m. sitting on the deck sipping coffee. That's sticky weather...or "close" as my older neighbors call it. "My, it certainly is close today." I think we need to bring back that polite oldfashioned style of speaking. I personally am trying to revive the expression "Hell's Bells!" to express outrage. *LOL* I have an elderly neighbor who actually says "Mercy!" I love it when I hear someone in the region say of something expensive "That sure is salty." Some of my acquaintances call events "them doings" a phrase that I suppose we would be better off losing.... "Air ya goin' to them doin's t'evenin'?"
I really should pick the rest of the cukes and go ahead and pickle them or something. My zuchinni plants are played out and I think it's probably too late to start new ones. That's ok. I'm about zuchinnied out.
Well, better go turn the chickens loose on the world.
