My little cat Simon passed away early in the morning of Dec. 12, around 3 a.m. He had been doing poorly all day, and by evening I was pretty sure the end was near. Stayed up with him until midnite; he was restless, refused to eat or drink. Kept moving from place to place in the house. I went to bed around 1 am; R. called me at 2:30. Simon had collapsed and was in a coma. We wrapped him up and sat with him. The end was peaceful and quick...he just stretched, sighed and was gone. He was my Valentine cat...I found him 4 years ago on Valentine's day and nursed him back to health then. I couldn't save him this time. Called the vet to let her know he'd passed and thank her for her hard work....she speculates it was heart failure, and I think she may be right. He's never been a very vigorous cat, always bothered by a constant sinus problem. He would have violent and prolonged sneezing fits that we would have to actually hold him and try to "talk him down" to get them to quit and I wonder now if that did not damage his heart....
Well, anyways. I buried him in the flower bed section of the veg garden and planted daffodils on his grave. I'll miss the little guy. I'm glad he died at home and that I was spared having to make that awful decision. Funny, I have lots of cats but it still feels bad when I lose one.

Nothing doing in the garden. Too busy with editing and nursing duties. Cold...but partially sunny today...may get out and try to do something.
