Seedfork's blog: Four big loads...Planted Peas, Spinach, and flowers

Overcast, a little breezy, but warm, got up to nearly 60 degrees today, and even though the wind was blowing, it was not the normal hard wind we have been having.
I was so glad the wind was calmer today, because I found a large pile (full truck load) of grass clippings...dethatched grass. A lot of people do that around here at this time of year and I love to get the clippings. That load had to be picked up with my seed fork and loaded, but I picked up three more loads that were bagged. The lightweight dried grass clippings blow all over the place when I am loading them and get all inside the truck, I use the electric
blower to clean them out.
Got out earlier this morning being it warmed up quickly today. I had a compost pile that needed to be turned so I turned it and moved it down to a better position. I needed to make room for a new pile and I wanted to be able to back the truck right down to it. I got the compost turned and moved but I still had my huge pile of shredded leaves sitting squarely in the middle of the path and before I could get the truck down to make a new pile I had to move those leaves. Finally got the pile of leaves where I wanted them to start with, and was very pleased with that.
The three truck loads of bagged grass clippings I hauled up near the rose beds, that compost pile was nearly totally depleted and I needed to start a new one there for next year.
I used eight dessert cups to soak the seeds that I bought at the dollar store, and this morning I planted the peas, and the Spinach, and the mixed flower seeds in the garden. I did not have time to get the others planted, but it is suppose to rain tomorrow and I figured I could do that inside being I am going to start the others in small pots. I hope to have better luck with the peppers, soaking worked last year so maybe it will work this year also.
The days are getting longer, and I was able to work outside until after 5:30 today, that is so nice.
Got a lot done and feel really good about the garden now. Oh...the second planting of carrots are already up and growing.
