Posted on Mar 13, 2015 3:43 PMWent and took a few shots outside yesterday, I was in a car accident 3 days ago so it's hard for me to hold my camera with it's heavy lens (airbag bruised the sternum) but the day was too nice not to try a few and I get too stiff sitting too long and need to move to keep the muscles loose. And the weather is so lovely!
Golden Celebration
Iris confusa
Self seeded Nemesia and lavender Geranium 'Bill Wallis' in the background.
Weeping Santa Rosa Plum blossoms, the second shot shows one of several little visitors on the branches
Carolina Jessamine (Gelsemium sempervirens 'Margarita')
Echeveria with it's cool weather pink edges and scattered roses petals
I am thankfully able to slowly walk through my garden, frustrated though that any work, new plantings, weed pulling, etc. is all on hold now. It will just take time to heal. Those airbags save lives but pack a powerful punch!
I was on my way to work Tues morning, had just entered an intersection with a two way green light, including the turn lanes (their sign says green turn yield to oncoming traffic). Two of the 4 vehicles opposite me in the turn lane made their turn before I got there, the 3rd car, a pickup truck, actually turned right in front of me just after I entered the intersection. I actually honked my horn and yelled at him, thought he was cutting awfully close. A split second later I saw the 4th vehicle, a white SUV, following right behind him. The force of the impact deployed all my airbags, front, back and all the side doors. I have a sprained ankle, chipped tooth and a bruised sternum and ribs, nothing broken thankfully. Won't be able to lay in a bed most likely for weeks, the recliner will have to do.
I loved my big gray solidly built Yukon and was told by EMT and police it really was a big factor in being able to walk away without more injuries. I will never feel safe in anything lower or smaller.
So drive defensively, watch out for the other drivers, don't let anything distract you in being fully alert to any potential problems on the road. I know I will probably be pretty paranoid when I finally get behind the wheel again, the trips to the hospital and follow-up doctor appointment had me in a tense death grip of my door handle!
The officer must have said something nice, I am smiling here.
I'm giving my report to the officer here, check out those side airbags!
