I think this is one spring where I am truly aware and thankful for every nice day we get. What a long, awful, brutal winter! Today it's cold (33F at 7 a.m.) but clear (what a moon we had!) and I think it's supposed to warm up into the 50s. Just so glad to see the snow GONE. There are still some frozen gravel-bound piles of it here and there in parking lots, but I don't see any on the ground.
I planted a number of daffodils and tulips into the Pine Gap, in the circle of lirope around the crab apple and I see no signs of them. Puzzled. By contrast, one nice clump of daffs is blooming in the Storybook Garden on top of the hill...it must be in a sun catcher spot. It is possible that the Pine Gap soil is still just too darn cold yet...that's a northerly location, shaded, and the snow was the last to melt there. I hope that's all it is.
