Another shower yesterday afternoon, overcast and cool this morning. Now only a slight chance of rain predicted till Saturday. We need a few days to dry out some. But after just two or three days without rain, we will be needing it again I know.
I have gotten in the habit of pulling a handful or two of weeds out of the yard every time I go down to the garden, doesn't seem like much but by the end of the week I should have removed thousands of weeds and clumps of nutsedge, bermudagrass, and crabgrass. I pulled every one of the mixed assortment of flowers I had planted in the Iris bed, there were none of them that looked like anything but a weed to me, good riddance.
I have been going down to the garden pretty early most mornings and deadheading the daylilies, and now I have started to do the same for all the dying or yellowing leaves. I can get quite a large tree bucket full of old blooms and leaves almost everyday. It takes a lot of time, and I end up knocking off a few buds almost everyday, but the improved neat look of the garden is worth the time and effort to me.
