threegardeners's blog: Downside of a great Summer.

Posted on Oct 5, 2011 7:53 PM

It's been a beautiful summer weather-wise. Everything stayed lush and green for the whole season.

Fields of cow corn are taller than my 6' 3" DH.

Some enterprising farmers managed to get 4 cuts of hay!! 4 cuts! Amazing in an area that only has maybe 3 a months growing season.

Not surprising though is the fact that now everyone has so much hay they don't know what to do with it. So I drive by lots of big round bales just rotting in the fields.

So sad....every time I drive by those fields I think of drought stricken Texas, where there is no hay, and I wish there was a way to send it south-ward.
