Seedfork's blog: An unexpected bonus

Well, I am out in the garden almost everyday, but it is just too hot and humid to even think about doing any major projects.
I weed, prune, and am doing a little cleanup work and that is about all.
I went down to the garden today, checking for the few things that are tolerating this heat. I did cut back the rampant Mexican Sunflower, pulled some more fading zinnias, and yanked up some very lanky cosmos plants. I beat all the good soil off the remaining Flore Pleno daylilies I had left over and tossed them, so things are at least looking a little less cluttered now.
Not many daylilies blooming, three or four each day and then with only single or double blooms.
I was surprised to find a lily blooming this morning. Now I had noticed the bud, and I do remember seeing a name tag for this really early back in the spring, but had forgotten about Stargazer being planted down there. So I was pleased to see even if the name tag is long gone the lily was still there.
Stargazer:

The giant ones have been so pretty but they are starting to flop and look a little ratty, so I pull them all along, Need to plant more seed if we get a rain.

Most all the purple coneflowers need cutting back now but this clump still looked decent.

This clump of purple coneflowers is gigantic, just starting to bloom. This is where my onions were planted, it appears it was well fertilized.
