Finally, we got rain. And wow did it rain! It started around 11 a.m. yesterday and it poured...I think we may have got 2 inches inside of a total of 4 hours. This is when I am so glad I took the trouble to haul in all that mulch and compost and even though hauling it and spreading it is difficult, it is gratifying to see even such a torrential rain soak in and not run off.
Today it's clear and much cooler and I'm sitting here typing this in the hopes of putting off as long as possible the horrid fact that I have to CLEAN THE HEN HOUSE. It's going to be a bad job.
Before I turn the hens loose on the world (I always hum "Who let the hens out? Uh uh. Who let the hens out?")
I have to fence off the newly mulched hydrangea bed or they will have that scattered in 2 minutes.
Well, putting it off isn't going to get it done. I go to arm myself for the battle and enter the fray.
