At least our temps have moderated to more normal for this time of year. We were supposed to reach 50F yesterday, but only got to about 44. This morning it's downright cold. I'm totally swamped with office work so I don't know if I will get outside to do much today. We had more rain and the ground is muddy...not complaining. The natural pond/wetland at the end of our road is still just a puddle, so it's going to take a really sustained period of precip. before that's recovered. Good news: Some Canada Geese are back in the marsh. I don't know if they are the resident flock or just passers-by still migrating down from the North.
Mystery: When I glanced out the office window to the driveway around 8 am. I was suprised to see a big white van parked in my driveway, nose up to the garage doors. Couldn't make out what was on the side, but it looked like a company-type van. A young man was getting into/out of it and my first thought was he came here by mistake looking for a work site. So I got my shoes and jacket on and went down to check it out. By the time I got there, van gone....but it left a big dry area where it had been sitting in an otherwise wet driveway. Hmmm. Was that van sitting there overnight and we never knew it? Or can a van get hot enough to dry a spot in the driveway in just a few minutes? Can't quite figure this out. I thought then that it might be the "meter reader" from the electric company, but there aren't any footprints near our meter and the grass around that area is saturated so he'd have left marks. Not alarmed, but cautious. I'm going to be watching the house carefully next few days.
