Well over the past few weeks we had a lot of rain. The Chipmunks or moles...maybe both have dug tunnels around the base of the big fountain in the back yard. With all the rain the soil became very soft and it rained so much and so long it also washed out the tunnels. That allowed the fountain to start leaning to one side. Finally I had to take the top section off to keep it from tipping all the way over and getting broken. The small path that leads to that bed is made of decorative garden path stones and a few of them have broken due to having the soil washed from underneath them. The main walkway from the drive to the front of the house has also started leaning and has a large void washed out from under it and is now broken in several places. So I am starting out the year with several things needing to be repaired. The man was supposed to come today to work on the back walkway and fountain, but it rained again last night so I don't know if he will show up or not today.
Well, the fountain repair man did show up, got the fountain taken apart (took all three of us to lift and move the lower part) then we got the new foundation for the fountain poured with 5 rebar stakes driven in to stabilize the slab. Got the broken walkway stepping stones moved and Monday they will be back to finish the walkway and set the fountain back up.
Still have a few plants that have been fooled into thinking it is spring already.
