Horntoad's blog: Sowing Update

Posted on Feb 24, 2016 8:50 PM

I lost my only Hibiscus austrinus spout to damping off.

I new sprout on Hibiscus meraukinsis

After 24 hours soaking I sowed:

Hibiscus cannabinus - white flower
Hibiscus cannabinus - red flower
Hibiscus moscheutos 'Blue River II'
Hibiscus moscheutos 'Luna White'
Hibiscus trionum 'Simply Love'

Pavonia missionum
Pavonia praemorsa
Pavonia hastata
Wercklea ferox
Radyera farragei

About half of Hibiscus trionum seeds started to sprout in the water after only about 14 hours.
All of the white flowered H. cannabinus spouted and several came completely out of the shells.
I guess it's safe to say these two need no pretreatment.
