Beautiful slow rain last night, not that most of the plants needed it, but my three new daylilies did need to be settled in.
The color is all around as the blooms start to pop open. The Bridal Reef, the Azaleas, the Dogwoods etc.
Today rain is expected later in the afternoon, but this morning has been absolutely beautiful.
The bog bed is so boggie I am having to put boards down again just to walk around. I talked to another daylily guy yesterday and was told daylilies do not like to be planted in wet areas but like well drained soil. Well, that may be correct, but my daylilies do not seem to know it. I have been expecting them to drop dead from rot any day for the past two years and again this year they seem to be doing great. I did lose a lot of the 25 seedings I bought over the period of a year, but that was more from drought and critters, they are planted in one of the drier sections of the bog after being built up so high. The plants were so small, I don't think their roots reached down far enough below soil level to reach all the moisture laying underneath the thick mulch. I think now that they are more established with a better root system, the ones that survived will do really well. What is the saying, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger".
Anyhow here are some pictures of a few of the many Amaryllis I have that are blooming or in the process of starting to bloom. Plus other stuff also. But, I am just so thrilled with the Amaryllis and how well they have done in the regular beds and in the bog beds where I was afraid the bulbs would rot, but they seem to have done in the high and dry areas and the low totally saturated areas.
