The yard is looking a bit better. I have been digging around the edges of the lawn to make it look better and am about 1/4 done. I have flower gardens all around the lawn area. Keeping the grass out sometimes seems like a loosing battle.
I had offered an acquaintance, my neighbors lawn care man, some of my thorn-less blackberries that I needed to move. He came by today and we dug the plants. It gave me a boost and I tilled in between the rows and made another row to transplant the rest of the blackberries. (These rows are only about 20' long.) In exchange for the berry plants he is going to come about every 2 weeks and edge the lawn. I can mow and really quite enjoy it, but I don't have an edger so this is very nice.
Every year, the day before mothers Day, our garden club has a plant sale and the members all contribute plants from their yards. I have potted up over 170 pots of flowers. Among those, I divided my striped leaf Iris. (The center of the leaf has a white stripe) I think they will go well. I hope to pot up about 400 plants. Most of them will sale for $2.00, the gallon potted plants will sake for $4.00. We contribute to the food pantry and some of the money goes to buying trees for the parks.
I am tired and sunburned, but oh, I did enjoy the last 2 days in the yard.
