Another gorgeous day A little hot, but I'll take it any day over our winter..... Summer just isn't long enough here in New England.
I think we hit at least 90 today; low humidity which is always good. Here's some pictures from around the garden
Clematis NOID
Iris don't know the name; I purchased from Schreiner's about 15 years ago
Madame Plantier
NOID rose Purchased from Heirloom Roses about 15 years ago Beautiful, large shrub rose (7' x 5')
And, here's another carefree rose Mike's Old Fashion Pink (aka Bon Chance). Bred, Introduced by the late Malcolm 'Mike' Lowe of Nashua NH. I had the great fortune of visiting Mike each Father's Day for his annual sale. Not many can hold a candle to Mike's knowledge of roses.... A true gentleman
'Malcolm ("Mike") Lowe became interested in roses as a young man in the 1960s while stationed in Europe with the Air Force. By the 1970s he was teaching his three-year-old son all the Latin names. Mr. Lowe served as president of the New England and New Hampshire Rose Societies and Yankee District Director of the American Rose Society and contributed to Modern Roses XI, ARS's encyclopedia of roses in commerce and cultivation. He received the Lester F. Harrell Award for significant contributions to the study, preservation and popularity of old garden roses in America. ' (from http://loweroses.com/about.htm...)
Here's information on 'Bon Chance' (Mike's Old Fashion Pink)

A photo of Mike's rose garden (he had over 4,000 roses in his 2 acre garden ).
And, had to get a picture of the girls drinking water from a porous rock in the bird bath. I purchased this rock at an aquarium store -- I think it might be limestone..?? The bees love it
Happy Gardening
