JB's blog: Jasmine Sambac

There are several different varieties of Jasminum Sambac.  This one is 'Maid of Orleans'

This particular one is considered a "vining shrub" . If not pruned it could reach 6 feet or more.  The one shown is five feet tall when not pruned.  They are fast growing plants. Their little flowers are single and about 3/4 inch. They only last one day.  They begin to flower in the Spring and continue into the Summer. After they bloom, I trim them back, keep the cuttings and start new plants. They have a strong beautiful fragrance. I love going into the Greenhouse in the morning when they are blooming.  It smells so good and is just a wonderful way to start the day. These plants are easy to propagate. Some people use these flowers to make tea. If you are interested in discussing this plant, please do.
