I look forward to getting home with daylight hours to spend outside. Now that the time change is set earlier in the year, my time outside won't be sweltering hot this early.
Busy mowing the weeds to keep them under control. Need to get going on the landscaping project.
This weekend, my Gloriosa lilies have sprouted. At least four of the five palms are sending up growth. Hope to get them on the trellis soon, meaning I hope there will be no more frosts. Wishing that I could move plants out of the greenhouse but tonight is projected to be 38 degrees. Our track record for this winter means it will be coming in colder than predicted.
And always one to bite off more than I can chew. This week, I received my shipment of bromeliads which are welcome one & all.
Aechmea guaratubensis Love the color on this one and one of the two has a flower bud forming.
Aechmea recurvata Giant Form
xBillmea Casper
Aechmea Echidna ~ Chantinii x recurvata
and a pair of unknown Tillandsia
Then today, I stopped at a garden center and found a Meiwa kumquat. I had intended to add another Satsuma but... I also picked up a Deuterocohnia brevifolia. Just cause I wanted it...
A friend had posted a bloom photo on his FB page. Pretty bloom, I thought. I put it in the back of my brain to follow his posts and see what it was. While at the garden center, I realized what he had. It was a Hoary Azalea, wild and uncommon in east Texas. What a pretty bloom it had ~ not at all like modern Azaleas. Glad I could help them with an ID.
Wrapped up the weekend with a walk in my woods. I saw many buckeyes in bloom. Always love their red flowers but never remember to look for the buckeyes later.
And thus ends another delightful weekend.
