Calif_Sue's blog: New garden shots

The portion of the garden already planted continues to fill in with color as more plants start their bloom. May is the best month! Looking at the photos helps me decide what I want to move or change for next year. I have to work on massing more plants together for more color impact, I am still in the small city garden mentality of just planting one kind of plant here and there.

This Louisiana iris 'Colorific', is still in a pot, I haven't decided yet where it will be planted.

On the left, iris 'City Lights' against the euphorbia 'Tasmanian Tiger' and on the right, I love the color combination of purple and orange in a garden, this iris, 'Sharpshooter' is a new favorite!

Yesterday I planted the window basket for the shed, it's looking a bit bedraggled and unimpressive after planting and a good soaking. Will update this shot as it fills in. I found the basket at a local antique shop, it fit perfectly under that window and four Home Depot plastic planter window pots fit perfectly inside, it was meant to be! I cut a window box liner in half to hide the plastic pots.

This Ground Morning Glory (Convolvulus mauritanicus) is planted in a large pot with a lime tree. It's a beauiful fountain of blooms all the way around the pot, totally obscurring it. A few pieces of golden sedum popped through. This is a great drought tolerant plant for ground cover and spilling over pots and raised beds.
