keyi's blog: grass in daylilies and semp seeds

Posted on Jun 26, 2012 5:38 PM

Pulled a whole trash bag of grass out of the big daylily bed today in 104* heat. Drank lots of water and took lots of indoor breaks. Feel somewhat accomplished. Yard needs weedeating and that danged tree branch needs chainsawing. Ricks gotta do that since my arm is messed up.

Semp Hurricane is indeed blooming with no new rosettes and the one I did surgery on dried up despite watering some.......bummer. I am sure I will lose more in this heat. Careful to water after the afternoon shade hits. Some of the ones in the fire pit look a bit fried. Don't know whether I am watering too little or too much. Rick cut me a circle to put on the back of the dome screen. Think I will wait til fall to do that though. Keep all the babies in the shade through the summer. Oh, the semp seeds I started are coming up. Teeny tiny babies, bout a 100 or so of them. Just specks really, but what did I expect with those microscopic seeds! I am proud. Hope I can keep them alive.
