microb's blog: Five days later

Weather has turned seasonal. Strong high pressure to the north is driving strong tradewinds over the islands. A front just went through giving us showers. So showers are spaced out but when they come down its quite heavy but short lived. Should be like this for a few days then a new storm system is going to approach from the east and could give us some thunderstorms by Thursday or Friday.
Found some seedlings in a pot with Peruvian Fuchsia cuttings. Not Fuchsias but don't know what. So moved them to a separate put to see if they are weeds. The African seeds are spouting what looks like grass. Really curious to see what they are. Maybe its... grass.
A pink Angel Trumpet tree has fallen down along the edge of the driveway this morning. Looks like one branch has just bent over so I will cut that off, leave the rest of the tree and put the cuttings in the ground in Piglets Garden.
Garden tour got delayed a week so more time to tidy up and, with this latest rain, the paths will need time to dry out again.
Trying to find line through the forest for new fence line. Just can't see the trees for the forest. I know where I want to go but yesterday I got turned around and almost lost. Every direction looked unfamiliar. Obviously I found my way out but next time will take the surveyors tape and mark the trail I have so far.
Wind and rain is pushing down the trees and philodendrum vines over the duck entrance. Have to bob down to get in their gate. So next priority job, when the weather allows, is a lot of trimming. All that growth is mixed in with Thumbergia vines and giant pink torch ginger growth so it will be a challenger.
Ponds need skimming again. Lots of big bullfrogs around. Counted 10 around and in just one pond the other day. Getting ready for Frog Spawn. All ponds always have tadpoles of various sizes. The gold fish purchased from Petco a couple of years ago are getting to a nice size.
Water Lilies have finally stopped blooming and leaves are decreasing in numbers as they go partially dormant.
The unpredictable weather is forcing me inside to do domestic work. Vacuum and brush cobwebs from the kennel areas, cleaned out a storage area between our shipping containers. Threw out an old generator, a stand on scale that made me weigh Zero pounds and an old bag of quikcrete concrete that has set hard. Might make a nice step somewhere, and also found remains of a rats nest. Exterior house maintenance and cleaning gets pushed aside when gardening needs to be done. Must keep up better.
Dog walking is also taking some time. But out of necessity I'm running again. Wondering if I can get back in shape. 35 years since I ran my Marathon!
