microb's blog: Rainy Day

Posted on Feb 21, 2020 7:22 PM

After a few days of plant gathering its time to plant. Yesterday I put the Coleus in the ground. Trimmed off bottom leaves and poked a hole the ground and slipped in the stem. I usually count them but not this time. Probably 50.
Did the same with the Song of India cuttings. Found space for some palm seedlings. Still have a pot of Impatient cuttings that are in water to put out somewhere.
Friend came round to chainsaw fence line in the forest. Too wet. So we cut up the 330ft roll of fencing into three pieces and carried two out to the forest work site. I'm hoping that will be enough when added to the existing fencing which is already in place. That leaves a 100ft length that will enclose more cleared forest.
Today I went to Ace Hardware and purchased three bags of potting soil. $1 more per bag that Walmart but I was right there after routine doctors check up so why not.
Still have about two dozen palm seedlings to put into pots.
Still raining so will go back to the potting greenhouse this afternoon and keep potting. Do the palms and then repot some of the Hibiscus cutting that have rooted.
More the seeds from my friends trips to Peru and South Africa have germinated.
Slugs seem to be taking the leaves off the Sun Flower seeds as they poke through so will have to start 10 more in a hanging pot.
Lost some sleep last night having and anxiety attack about the running bamboo starting to emerge in places its not wanted. Its that time of the year for it to start. Will it be too much for me to handle this year. Also stressing about whether I'm fencing in too much land, getting too many plants while not maintaining the areas that have landscaped. What did the doc say "I'm suffering too much guilty pleasures" or something like that.
Rain has stopped. Should I go and fetch my neighbor for a chainsaw session or leave it until tomorrow. Probably go back to potting plants.
