LysmachiaMoon's blog: What have I got myself into?

Have you ever had something just snowball out of control on you? A couple of years ago, my fancy was tickled by a series of tutorials on making pop-up cards/books. I bought a how-to book, some construction paper, card stock and glue and created a couple of cute (but amateurish) birthday cards for my cousin Monica. It was one of those "winter hobbies", something to do when the weather is too bad to garden.

So, this winter, I happened across a couple of videos entitled "pop up cards" and I thought I'd watch them and maybe learn something. Well, they were a bit different from what I'd been doing, but I learned some things and decided to make a couple of pop-up type valentines. For that I needed some different supplies, etc. Then, you know, you see something that's so pretty, so enchanting, and you think "hmmm...I would love to make that as a birthday card for ___." But for that project, you'll need MORE stuff, more supplies, more this and that. And then I got an Amazon gift card for filling out a survey and the idea of a die cutting machine for practically nothing seemed...well... And then R said, "oh go ahead and treat yourself." So I bought the die cutting machine, which meant of course, I need to buy some dies. And on it goes. Somewhere in all this, I remember saying to myself, "this will be a nice way to make cards without spending a lot of money." *Bffttrrpp* Yeah, right. *LOL*

Today, I'm going to sit down and, come hell or high water, churn out a couple of birthday cards so I can at least recoup some of the $$$ I've been laying out!

More snow. We've got another 4-5 inches on top of what we already had from a couple of weeks ago. We had some melting this past week, but still 80-90% snow cover BEFORE this latest. I don't think we're going to get much more accumulation from this storm; as I write this at 11 a.m. Thursday, the snow is changing over to light sleet.

Finished all the detail painting on the horse barn garden ornament; I think I'll wire-brush and repaint a small table while I have the paint can and brush handy.
