A robin has visited both yesterday and today, rearing back, strutting across the yard, listening to his own drummer, as if I couldn't see that bright red breast anyway. Robins hang around here most of the winter, so he isn't the first one I've seen. He is the first one that seems to proudly strut his colors, though.
And snowdrops/Galanthus. Wallflowers, sedum and hyacinth. Spring is surely just around somebody's corner, maybe mine.
The daffs are up and budding, a few are in bloom. I forgot to get their pictures. And the limbs of the maple trees are full of little red bud growth. It's all good.
I thought I'd just take one day at a time and be very calm about the weather. But it got the best of me and a couple of weeks ago I got out my paints. It will be a while before I see my daylilies blooming, so I might as well just paint.
Maybe I should paint that proud little robin next; after all, I have this red paint already off the shelf. Or roses. I could paint roses.
