Sharon's blog: New Day

Posted on Feb 15, 2013 1:23 PM

I'd been having this nagging conversation with Aunt Bett and my Granny Ninna in my mind for months, the conversation where they said, "Where's that book you promised to write?  What didja do with all the stories we gave you?  Git writin', girl, y'ain't gittin' any younger!"

Then I heard from Dave, "We're streamlining again."

This wonderful website, All Things Plants, is just about the fastest growing, most innovative, and totally member oriented gardening site I've ever come across. Dave and Trish have done such a magnificent job building it and the members have contributed so much to the entirety; it's mind boggling to realize it's only about 18 months old.  I'm grateful to have spent those months helping to get the articles and ideas up and running.

But the site very nearly runs itself now, with its excellent ideas coming from its knowledgeable and very creative members, and my editing is really no longer needed.

So I'm retiring my editing hat, donning my writing hat, grabbing my reading glasses, and I'm off and running toward the once delayed compilation of very nearly 300 articles into a storybook form.  The book will have a happy ending, because it sure did have a happy beginning with those two little ladies holding my hand the entire way.

Happy Birthday to you today, Zuzu!  It's absolutely wonderful that I ended my editing days with all the rose articles you sent my way.  What a beautiful Rose Week we've had and what great writers!  To have won one of the terrific prizes from the unraffle - raffle drawing is just icing on the cake!

And it's spring at my house, or nearly so:

Since I know now that pruning just about anytime, if at all, is fine with the roses, it's about time I try and get Granny Laurie's rose off the roof of my house.

Happy almost Spring!
