Yesterday I planted my first plant in that newly dug planting bed alongside our garage. It is a corm of Crocosmia 'Lucifer'. She had 5 to plant and asked me if I wanted that 5th one. Isn't that the sweetest thing?
Her and her DH are giving me chicken wire to put around my newly planted garden at the back door to keep the rabbits out. I looked yesterday and saw that the Marigolds have already come up, but they are still so tiny. Today I will sharpen 4 stakes to wrap the wire around. I hate to close up everything, but I do want to have pretty flowers around the back door. I have to make a sacrifice at the front of the house because it is too wicked hot and the plant life has to be drought tolerant and able to survive this Florida sun. I have tried other things, but it's a waste of time. Now I have a good collection of plants: Black Mangrove, Spineless Yucca, Agave, Red Fountain Grass, Red Aloe, etc.
I had to cut my morning walk short today because of back pain. Overworked, over stretched, over done! I need a few good days of R&R. Hah!
On my way back up the hill this morning I saw a garbage can on top of a house that I walk by often. She was on the front porch and I asked her if she knew there was a garbage can on her roof. She said no and came out to see what was going on. She said it was not hers. I guess the wind blew it up there. We did have a wind advisory last evening.
Peace & Plenty good people. May all your gardening dreams come true. Pictures of all the gravel work I've done tomorrow.
