It looks like our March weather is going to be more wintry than February, so there's not a whole lot going on in the gardens. Today its windy enough to blow your socks off, so I'm staying indoors. I may try to do just one thing outside (not sure what), if the wind dies back a bit, but even as I write this it actually started blowing HARDER. Beautiful sunny day though, but very cold, in the low 30sF.
It's a waiting time. Waiting on the wind, waiting on the weather. Waiting for the chicks to be big enough to move into their outdoor quarters. Waiting for seedlings to be big enough to move into the greenhouse and cold frame. Mostly though, sadly, waiting for my dear old cat Sam to take his leave of us. He's been failing gently for about a month, but last night seems to be the turning point. He's found a warm spot in the living room and he hasn't moved. I'm giving him water and liquid food by syringe, but this morning he seems to have trouble swallowing. I think the end is very near. He's 18 years old, a big strapping black cat who has been our protector and defender for many years. I always said we should have named him Moses because we plucked him from the weeds along the road like Moses from the bulrushes. Saying goodbye to him will leave a very big hole in our hearts and home.
