ScarletTricycle's blog: No. 103: well, not going as planned

In the great scheme of things, when life is perfect and you list out what you want to do on what day, hour or week and in your mind you know everything will fall into place as you planned.

And then life takes a spin and you look at a list from two weeks ago and you have only gotten one thing done. Yep, my life! My garden! My lack of focus and narrow line to getting things done!



That's what I need to do about it. Just laugh because otherwise it's going to make me shake my head and just say WHAT.AM.I.DOING?!

My kids are keeping me busy, the weather doesn't agree, my body rebels, the kids have doctor appointments, sports, activities, I'm needed to help aging parents, it's too cold, it's rainy, I have to work … yet the plants still grow in their little pots and I've been keeping them watered and try to find time to still care for them.

My dahlia seedlings are looking great. Yay for that! They are green and lush looking as I view the flats from the top down. I'm pleased as to how they are doing.

I'm also excited as I have 4 that are holdovers from last year that never bloomed so I'll see what they hopefully do. These are all from full doubles as seed parents. Whomever knows what they may be, as some of the '22 ones were near collarettes. But I'm hoping they do pick up from other doubles. Will see what happens.

When I look at this years seedlings, most are very rigid straight plants, but I have one who is all laissez faire about standing straight and tends to swoop and lounge. I'll let it grow, but come on, get it together with the idea of standing straight and tall woo when you are planted out. That is if my plants listen to my suggestions.

Hope everyone's gardens are getting ready. My veg garden is in and hopefully growing. Tomorrow my plan is the front beds. Who knows if I'll get there, but I'll try.
