I went out and cleaned up some. It looked worse than it was and it's not totally perfect but it will have to work.
I did loose a lot of developing seed heads which makes me frustrated. It's not that I can take the heads off and let them dry. They need to stay on the plant as long as they can for good development. And they certainly aren't fast to develop seeds at my house. Now, if only they get seed making and frost holds off until some nice seeds develop, life will be good. The row that was knocked over had about a dozen heads I was hoping to harvest from. Doesn't sound like a lot I know, but that could have been some potential nice sized blooms. Not sure if the large ones take even longer to make seeds or not. I've got a few others attempting to seed make but they are fresher and not as old as some that I have lost.
Just took a look at the 45 day weather outlook on accuweather. Next week we are to have a low of 40 but the next cold night is 10/9 at 28. Now, if that were true, and the first hard frost not until October, then maybe! I might have some hope. But I don't hold super tight hope on that happening.
The JBs are back en force today. How crazy. I wish they'd all die dead. Unfortunately, also not the case. They are snacking away on my blooms. I should probably go do another cutback and encourage another flush of blooms and just keep them in business.
Hope everyone is steady on their feet today. I'm trying and not sure I'll be completely successful.
