What to pair with giant purple allium?
Posted on May 26, 2017 5:44 AM

Looking for suggestions as to what to plant in my cutting garden that will bloom the same time as my allium, which have giant buds about to burst right now, late May 2017.

My first sunny garden
Posted on May 5, 2016 8:13 PM

This year my landlord gave me a semicircular strip of land where his field meets his lawn. He ran his riding mwer around in a circle and I added organic material to it to make a lasagne garden. I've decided to make it into a cutting garden for the pleasure of flowers in my house and giving bouquets to all my friends for theirs. Previously I got interested in gardening when my sister let me improve some abandoned garden areas at her house, which backs up under a mountain the the east and has lots of tall pines and maples all around. I learned how to get the most color out of shade to partial shade. But now I have this sunny, rainbow -shaped garden at my house that will get sun all day, and I have planted:
three colors of lysianthus: carmine, blue picotee and blue,
tall white rocket snapdragons,
80 gladiolus,
five oriental lilies,
some veronica,
two pink calla lilies,
blue bachelor buttons,
liatrus
sunflowers, 3 kinds
hollyhocks
shasta daisy,
multi- colored rocket snapdragons,
three kinds of sweet peas,
and soon to be giant zinnias.
I am so psyched.
