It isnt absolutely necessary to understand cell biology to be a skilled gardener,
but a grasp of the basic concepts will help you appreciate the miracles taking place
within your plants. And by studying processes like photosynthesis and transpiration,
youll be better able to "read" your plants and more fully understand their
needs and cycles. This week
well begin by taking a close-up view of plants. Well examine plant cell
structures, then move on to explore the important processes taking place on this
microscopic level. Well also discuss how plant growth responses familiar to most
gardenerssuch as seedlings bending toward lightare explained on the cellular
level.
