My lawn has patches what can I use to grow grass for the fall and winter.

There are a number of lawn patch products available in the garden center - some you simply roll out and others you sprinkle onto the bare spots. Look for a grass seed mixture that contains Kentucky Blue and fescue type seeds. This will give you a combination of cool season and warm season grasses so your lawn should remain green from spring through late fall.
