When is a good time to trim a japanese maple tree and knock out roses? I live in Alexandria, KY.

You can prune your roses and your maple tree now, in the winter while they are dormant, or anytime between now and when the buds begin to swell on the branches in late winter/early spring. Enjoy your garden!
