when is the ideal time to sow vegetable seeds indoors for outdoor planting in spring?

Vegetable seeds can be started about 8 weeks before your average last spring frost. Historically, your average last frost date is April 10 so you can start your seeds indoors the third or fourth week of February and they'll be ready to go outdoors in mid-April.
