I live in Fort Myers, FL, which you list as a tru subtropical region. My area is now considered to be 9A. Should I change my region to get a more realistic to-do list? By the way, that is a great part of your site.

Your zip code places you in USDA gardening zone 9B so plants you choose should be hardy to that zone. Planting dates can vary, depending upon gardening zone but the University of Florida has a handy publication to help sort everything out. Here's the web site: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/vh021

You can download a copy of the publication to help you plan your veggie garden. The university also has a list of recommended perennials for your zone: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/mg035

Hope these publications are helpful!
