| I think I'd wait until the weather warms up to turn the bin rather than add hot water to it - unless you can simply pour the hot water over the outside of the bin to free it up. If you add hot water to the compost it may become too soggy and you'll have a smelly mess on your hands when things begin to defrost. You can add a small amount of fireplace ashes to a compost bin, but don't add too much. A 2 or 3 gallon bucket full of ashes is about all you can safely add. |
