I live in South Louisiana, have frost occasionally until mid March. I want to plant container tomatoes on my Northeast facing outdoor patio. Comments? When to start? Seeds or little plants? I get everything at HD!~

If you start from seeds, you can plant them indoors now and set the little plants out in mid- to late-March. If you purchase little plants from the garden center, you can set them out on your patio in mid- to late-March. I wouldn't plant them outdoors any sooner than that - tomato plants are heat lovers so cold temperatures will retard their growth. Tomato plants need at least 6 hours of sunshine daily. Does your northeast facing patio get that much? If so, great! If not, you may want to plant your patio tomatoes in baskets that you can move to a sunnier spot. Best wishes with your tomato harvest!
