Mushroom compost is typically sterilized before it is packaged up for sale. While it is an excellent soil amendment, the sterilization process will kill the beneficial microbes and any tea you make from it will not be as rich in nutrients as it would be if you used manure or backyard compost to make your tea. I'd mix the mushroom compost with manure to make tea for the garden.

A manure based compost will provide you with a nutrient rich fertilizer. The manure is placed in a burlap sack and suspended in a barrel of water for 7 to 14 days. The primary benefit of the tea will be a supply of soluble nutrients, which can be used as a liquid fertilizer. Hope this answers your question.
