Tall, hearty annual flowers - Knowledgebase Question

Hello,
Every year I plant Zinnias up next to the building I live in. The tall type, 3-4 feet. This year I want to try a different flower. Can you please recommend a tall, hearty, easy to grow annual? Maybe similar to a zinnia? Oh... and I'm a

My first thought was, of course, the dwarf sunflowers so readily available. Sorry you're not interested in them because they are outstanding! A second suggestion is Calendula officinalis. These drought tolerant annuals have big, bright flowers which are similar to the flowers of zinnia. Or, spider flower (Cleome hasslerana) might work in the area. For something completely different you can plant artichokes in the area and allow the chokes to open up. They are the most incredible purple! Hope you find just the right plants for your garden.
