your answers were very informative. I have a few more questions:
1)can I grow plant in a pot and bring the pot in the garage in fall after cutting back?
2) where can I buy seeds or seedlings?

I'm not sure who answered your initial question, but I can answer these: You can overwinter an artichoke, but you can also grow and harvest them in less than 100 days in CT. We do it here in the Champlain Valley of Vermont! Seeds of 'Imperial Star Hybrid' (95 days) are available from Burpee. You may be able to find plants at local nurseries.
