This is in my backyard. It's about 10 inches long. Anyone know if it is a plant?

What are we looking at? The black thing? Did you poke it? How big is it?

It looks like a piece of plastic. You sure its not garbage?

Yes, the black thing- It looks like a vine coming out both sides of it. I did poke it and it sort of feels like a shell. I am not sure it is not garbage! It is about 10" by 3"

It appears to be possibly a garden decoration that was once a plastic butterfly, the body painted black now peeling, the wings made of a pinkish color fabric. Not a plant.

Yes, I think Greene has solved the mystery. It does look like a plastic butterfly.

The peeling paint grabbed my attention. I want to repaint the body, create new wings using wire and fabric, and add some antennae. (Would add a cheerful emoticon here if one were available.)

LOL well we did just have a Hurricane here! Thanks for the quick responses- I was freaked out it was some kind of pod! It is now safely in the garbage- sorry I will not be restoring it!
