What should we do about our knock out roses that have limbs that have leafed out and then are dying. We have twenty plants and all have this problem. Please help. Thank you. |
If the branches made it through the winter and began to leaf out but the leaves died, check the bases of the canes for evidence of cane borer entry or exit holes. If you find them, the only method of control involves cutting the cane down past the borer damage. Other than these pests, water stress can cause sudden death of rose canes. If you find no insect evidence, water stress (too much or too little) might be the cause. I'd prune off the dead or dying stems and canes and wait for new growth to appear. Hope it's soon! |
