Dan and Jackie Bachman own and operate this lovely daylily farm. It was here that I bought my first daylilies commercially. I was amazed on my first visit to VOTD as I'd never seen that many daylilies growing on one huge lot. I've made many purchases from Dan and I've never been disappointed. Dan specializes in huge spiders and uf's. Last summer I was honored when he showed me a sampling of some of his smaller spiders and uf's. I'm an avid collector of miniature daylilies and was dazzled with his new line. For 2017 he has introduced " A Little Bit of Soap" and I can't wait to get it for my small garden.

I have several of his flowers and also highly recommend him. I also bought plant markers from him, and my husband loves the daylily embroidered shirt that his wife makes.

I have never placed an online order with Valley Of The Daylilies before, and just as I was about to make my first one, I realized that they were in driving distance. I was fortunate enough to make my trip during their open house, on my birthday.
The Bachmans were all friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. For the price of what I would have paid for trimmed fans from an online seller, I received big, beautiful clumps, two of which are currently in bloom, and one -- Bobbing For Poodles -- which will be blooming soon. One of my clumps is so large and dense, I have no idea how many fans are in it, but there are five scapes blooming right now.
They were also kind enough to offer me a gift for my birthday, though honestly just having the chance to wander through their gorgeous daylilies was enough of a present.
Seeing these amazing plants among all of the short, trimmed fans that I've ordered online -- which I won't get to see bloom until next season -- I don't think I ever want to buy daylilies anywhere else.
I will definitely make another trip there, and I cannot recommend them highly enough!

***2018 - For the third season in a row, my trip to Valley Of The Daylilies was awesome! I still haven't ordered from them online, but trips to the gardens are wonderful, and I come home with huge, blooming clumps of gorgeous daylilies.

Last year Valley of the Dayliles auctioned off some daylilies. Being a procrastinator, I didn't email in my bids until the night before the auction. After weeks of not hearing anything, I assumed my bids were sent too late and forgot about it. I eventually decided to clean out my junk mail folder, and what do I find but an email telling me I had won 7 daylilies! I felt terrible and immediately emailed them to let them know I had just gotten the email and would pay for the daylilies even if they didn't have them anymore. They were just the nicest, most understanding people! I received my daylilies last August and they were all nice and healthy. I can't wait to see them bloom this year! I will definitely buy more daylilies from them in the future! Highly recommended!

Edited to Add: Valley of the Daylilies closed the end of 2020 due to retirement. The Bachman 2020 intros and select seedlings were given to the Good Life Farm. Other seedlings and cultivars were given to Darby Flower Fields. Both are located in Ohio.

I have ordered several times from Valley of the Daylilies in the last two years. He helped me finish my Stout Medal bed. Plants arrived healthy and with a minimum of two to three fans. He is so generous. Ordered several of his daylilies and have been so pleased.

I've known Dan and Jackie Bachman since the Summer of 1999 and I've been buying locally from them since then. They're a 2-hour round trip for me. All their Daylilies are organically grown and well taken care of by the Bachman family. Dan always provides big and healthy fans. They always have a Daylily open house sometime in early July for a week. He'll dig your fans while you're there. He has thousands of fans on their 12-acre property. He has been hybridizing for years and has been introducing his own Dayliles since 2001. He specializes in the spidery and UF Daylilies.

Highly recommended! A+
