The Green Pages: Pine Knot Farms (E-Commerce Companies)

Pine Knot Farms is one of the best suppliers of beautiful, healthy Hellebores that I have done business with. I have attended their open houses for many years and they never fail to delight with their plants and their suppliers, who bring unusual plants for the open house.

They introduced me to the Paperbush, a plant that has been a star attraction in my late summer/very early spring garden for many years. Its blooms are reminiscent of Lily of the Valley!

Sorry to say, I have no experience with their mail order, as I live close enough to be able to pick up my purchases, but if they are as diligent in packing as they are for pickup orders, I'm sure it would be a satisfactory experience

I first started buying hellebores from Pine Knot Farms at the spring plant sales held at Virginia public gardens - Green Spring, Lewis Ginter, and the Virginia Arboretum. Pine Knot Farms specializes in breeding and selling hellebores. Dick and Judith Tyler were very friendly and always willing to chat with enthusiasm and advice. I attended one of the Winter Hellebores festivals at their home a few years ago to see the hellebores growing in their woodland gardens. Great selections, great subject-matter expertise. They also wrote a book, which is considered a definitive reference book about hellebores. Sadly, Judith has passed away, but Dick and his family are continuing the business. I've not utilized their mail order services, but I assume the service quality is as good as when buying locally. I highly recommend Pine Knot Farms for anyone interested in starting out or adding to their hellebores collection.

It has been a couple of years since I first ordered from Pine Knot. Their service and fantastic packing haven't changed.
All plants arrive moist and with no dirt spillage. I cant praise them enough.
