If you see foliage changing color on seedlings, they may be showing signs that they are hungry. For example, if the underside of a tomato leaf turns burgundy, you need to fertilize.
Red on the bottom leaves on zonal geraniums are a sign of nitrogen deficiency.
Pale new growth is a sign of phosphorous or potassium deficiency.
I like to use a lower concentration of liquid fertilizers such as fish fertilizer as a foliage spray or added to the watering can.
I also recommend fertilizing every 2 weeks to keep your seedlings happy and healthy.
