Round preformed fiberglass ponds are made to be buried in the ground. Sinking looks natural, but makes them harder to clean. Adding landscape blocks around the edges makes cleaning easy.

Landscape blocks make a landing field for the edges of a pond sunk in the ground. This method gives the edges of the pond a secure place to rest and keeps the pond level.

This pond is three feet round by one foot deep. When it is placed in the ground, the pond looks more natural and more like part of the landscape, but I like to clean the pond by tipping it over and simply tossing out the water, the leaves, and all accumulated debris. This is not usually possible to do with an in-ground pond. If you tried to do this to a pond with soil sides, the sides would cave in. This pond, however, can be lifted off the ground for easy emptying and cleaning. The landscape blocks keep the soil from caving in and make sure your pond stays level.

This pond invites birds, frogs, and wildlife to the back garden.
